The Job:
Provide full internal and external access for Sandy Park’s new 35million pound hotel. A 250 room, 8 storey hotel development situated next to the M5 and Exeter Chiefs rugby stadium. The largest construction project in Exeter at the time.
The Challenge:
A team of between and 8-10 scaffolders were required to meet the demanding programme and erect the scaffold around the 240m perimeter. At a towering height of the 30m the scaffolders were treated to expansive, rewarding views down the Exe estuary and across to Woodbury common.
As well as the main scheme, the project involved providing some technical design and access solutions. These included a 30m high, multi-level hoist run-off for a large twin mast Geda 1500 ZZP and provide a solution to access the hotels 30m bridge spanning Rydon Road. The latter involved an interesting night lift due to the size of the crane and proximity to the local airport.
